This is great publicity for us (Eckingtonians). Unfortunately for us, the author got the "Historic" part of the listing wrong. Some day I hope we do get historic designation, that would be great validation to the work the long time residents have worked so hard for in restoring their homes. It also opens up a pot of tax incentives for us as well.

The publicity is good if it will spark private sector development for the area. how i long for a restaurant, a good wine shop, a coffee place etc. in walking distance. I think that the hood has all of the makings of a great community, and can rival the hill for prestige at some point. however, i am not yet sold on the historic designation. Just haven't read enough on the pros and cons.

Not sold on HD? Look next door at Bloomingdale. Talk about Ack! So many horrible hack jobs and pop tops. That doesn't bring in residents, it drives them away!
